Whether it’s a beloved novel getting the big-budget movie treatment or a deep, character-driven story being stretched into a binge-worthy series, adaptations give us a visual way to experience the stories we love. 2024 delivered some incredible book-to-screen moments, and 2025 is shaping up to be just as exciting. Yay! This is the stuff I live for!
Standout Adaptations from 2024
Bridgerton, Season Three – The Regency-era romance continued to delight in its third season, staying true to Julia Quinn’s novels while keeping the drama, wit, and swoon-worthy moments that have made the series a favorite. It’s no surprise that fans can’t get enough of the Bridgertons’ love stories! I know I can’t!
The Night Manager, Season Two – Based on John le Carré’s espionage thriller, the second season took us deeper into the world of international intrigue, with Tom Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine facing new dangers and old enemies. Stylish, tense, and packed with stellar performances.
Dune: Part Two – Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel continued with “Dune: Part Two,” giving us more of the sweeping visuals, political drama, and deep mythology that made the first film such a success. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and the rest of the cast brought the next chapter of Paul Atreides’ journey to life in a way that felt both epic and intimate. Read our thoughts about the adaptation here.

Animal Farm (July 11, 2025) – George Orwell’s classic allegory gets a fresh animated adaptation directed by Andy Serkis. With today’s political climate, this story about power and corruption feels as relevant as ever – but doesn’t it always? I mean, that’s the point of the original book, isn’t it? Should be thought-provoking and visually stunning. Fingers crossed!
Fear Street: Prom Queen (Mid-2025, Netflix) – Expanding R.L. Stine’s “Fear Street” universe, this one brings the chills and thrills to Shadyside High, where the race for prom queen turns deadly. With a solid cast and a dark, nostalgic vibe, line up horror fans!
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025) – Bridget is back! This adaptation of Helen Fielding’s novel follows Bridget as a single mother navigating love and life in a new era. If it’s anything like the previous films, it should do great!
The Electric State (2025) – Based on Simon Stålenhag’s illustrated novel, this film is set in an alternate reality where a young girl embarks on a journey with her robot companion to find her missing brother. With its mix of sci-fi adventure and emotional depth, it’s one to keep an eye on.
Mickey7 (2025) – Adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel, this follows Mickey, an “expendable” worker on a dangerous colony mission who is regenerated each time he dies. But when Mickey7 meets his unauthorized replacement, things get complicated fast. As sci-fi fan, I’m super excited about this one!
The Two Hemispheres of Lucca (January 31, 2025, Netflix) – This powerful story follows a mother’s fight to find experimental therapy for her son with cerebral palsy. It’s an emotional and a tearjerker about resilience, love, and hope.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep (February 11, 2025, Netflix) – Yay! Yay! Yay! Love this series! Expanding Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher universe, this animated film is based on “A Little Sacrifice” from the Sword of Destiny collection. Geralt of Rivia takes on treacherous waters, both literally and emotionally, in a story of love and fate.
Missing You (January 1, 2025) – Based on Harlan Coben’s thriller, this follows Detective Kat Donovan as she stumbles upon her missing fiancé on a dating app, leading to a tangled web of secrets and danger. If you love mystery and suspense, this is one to watch.
